😴| Lewis Hamilton after finishing fifth in the Monaco GP with a 50-second gap to the leaders: “It happens.” “I can’t comment on the rest of the race, for me I was in the middle of nowhere. I started seventh, was behind two cars for some time, managed to clear them, then I was in no man’s land after that. “The gap was relatively big and I was not racing anyone. I needed a Safety Car or something but it didn’t happen. It was pretty straightforward from there. “The information wasn’t that clear. I didn’t know what I was fighting for. Was I fighting for the next spot ahead? “I wasn’t anywhere near the guys in front.” .

After finishing fifth in the Monaco Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton offered a subdued and honest assessment of his race, which left him 50 seconds adrift of the leaders. The seven-time world champion summarized the experience succinctly: “It happens.”

Hamilton started the race from seventh on the grid and explained that after spending some time stuck behind two cars, he eventually managed to pass them, only to find himself isolated from the rest of the field. “I was in the middle of nowhere,” he said. “I cleared a couple of cars, but after that, I was in no man’s land. The gap ahead was pretty big, and I wasn’t racing anyone directly.”

He expressed a sense of confusion and detachment during the race. “The information wasn’t that clear. I didn’t know exactly what I was fighting for—was I pushing to catch the car ahead? Was there a bigger strategy in play?” Hamilton admitted he was uncertain about his role in the bigger picture of the race, which can be a disorienting experience for any driver, let alone one of his caliber.

Monaco, known for its narrow track and limited overtaking opportunities, didn’t offer much in the way of action or recovery. Hamilton had hoped for a Safety Car to bunch the field and create opportunities, but that never materialized. “I needed something like that to have a shot at moving forward,” he remarked. “But it was pretty straightforward from there.”

Despite the frustratingly uneventful race, Hamilton remained composed and realistic. His comments reflect both the challenges of racing at Monaco and the current limitations of his Mercedes machinery. While the result was not ideal, his calm demeanor suggests he’s already looking ahead to the next opportunity to fight at the front.
