SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A United Airlines plane heading from Vancouver to San Francisco made an emergency landing at the Sacramento International Airport Wednesday.
The plane was diverted to Sacramento due to a burning odor in the cabin, according to United Airlines. The flight landed safely in Sacramento and all passengers deplaned at the gate.
There were 179 passengers on board and 6 crew members, according to United Airlines. The plane was a Boeing 737-900.
According to the United Airlines Flight Status tracker, the plane departed from Vancouver, Canada around 7 a.m. Wednesday and arrived at the Sacramento International Airport around 9:15 a.m. The plane departed the Sacramento International Airport around 12:30 p.m. and arrived at the San Francisco International Airport around 1:23 p.m.
Recycling facility fire causes large plume of smoke to be seen across Sacramento
The Sacramento Fire Department says they’re battling the large fire at a recycling facility on Florin Perkins Road and 24th Avenue around 5 p.m.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A large fire burning in Sacramento caused a large, black plume of smoke to be seen across the city Thursday afternoon.
The Sacramento Fire Department says they’re battling the large fire at a recycling facility on Florin Perkins Road and 24th Avenue around 5 p.m. They were originally called about a trash fire but the call was rapidly increased to a four-alarm fire.
Captain Justin Sylvia says the amount of items inside the recycling plant are making the large smoke plumes. The fuels consist of plastic, metals and cardboard.
Sac Metro Air District strongly encourages anyone who smells smoke from the fire to go indoors or leave the area as breathing smoke is unhealthy.
Over 100 firefighters are on scene and working in the area to keep the fire at the recycling center and away from other businesses.
Sacramento Police Department officers tell ABC10 Florin Perkins and Fruitridge, Belvedere and Florin Perkins, and 84th St. and 24th Avenue will be closed for multiple hours and the train tracks in the area are also no longer operating.
Smoke from the fire is visible from Stockton.
An investigation is ongoing into what caused the fire. No other information is known at this time.
