“Tyson Fury Surprises Fans with Uplifting Message on Mental Health Awareness!”

By | October 5, 2024

The ‘Gypsy King’ was handed the first defeat of his professional career last time out as he succumbed to the challenge of Usyk in their undisputed tilt in May.

Fury faced calls to make immediate changes after the showdown, with fans unhappy as he had a three-man corner of dad John, Andy Lee and chief trainer Sugar Hill Steward.

And as a second chance to beat Usyk approaches on December 21, the Briton insists he is not interested in outside noise and is aware of what he has to do to get revenge.

He said during an interview to celebrate the console release of the Undisputed video game on October 11: “Not much time.

“I know what I’ve got to do, nothing drastic.

“People can say ‘I want to change trainers or I’ll blame it on me conditioning coach or I’ll blame it on the cook or I’ll blame it on the mouse next door.’

“For me it is the same team, same everything. I know what I’ve got to do. I thought I won the fight last time.

“I give him, me boxing all my life and watching boxing my whole career, I give him rounds eight, nine and ten, and round nine was a 10-8.

“So that’s what I give him out of the fight, but obviously the judges saw it a bit different, couple of them did.

“One of them had me winning. That’s what it was. It was as close as it can be.

“There’s no secret – I’m going in there to knock him out because I don’t think I’m gonna get a decision no matter what I do.

Fury’s father John was an integral voice in the corner, particularly in the ninth round when the heavyweight was knocked down and was visibly gutted at the final bell.

The former two-time champion has traditionally had Steward in his corner for the fights, but it appears the group team will remain.

Fury Sr’s advice was heavily criticised as the dust settled, as the champion believed he was winning the fight and boxed to the scorecards.

But the icon’s brother Shane believes that their father was simply acting out of concern for his son on the back foot.

He told iFL TV: “My take is, deeply, truly, my honest opinion is my dad wants what’s the best for his son.

“And the best for his son after he’s been put down and nearly out cold is to get him through the fight.

“F*** the boxing, you can be KO’d and not wake up. That’s his mentality ’cause he wants the best for his sons.

“But sometimes when you want the best for someone it’s maybe not the best instructions. Them instructions is sometimes not what you need.”
