Emergency services have been called to an industrial estate in Chesterfield with police saying a plane has ‘come down’.
Police, fire crews and paramedics are currently dealing with the incident involving a light aircraft, DerbyshireLive reports. Emergency services are urging people to avoid the area around Sheepbridge Lane to the north of the town of Chesterfield, close to the A61.
Sheepbridge Lane is predominantly an industrial estate but it is surrounded by farmland, woodland, a brook and a rugby club. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service have said that three fire crews are in attendance alongside police and the ambulance service.
The Flightradar website has said that the plane involved is an Evektor SportStar, owned privately. It was built in 2022.
Flightradar said the last signal received from the aircraft was over Sheepbridge at 08:03 UTC at an altitude of 600 feet.
In a statement, Derbyshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with a light aircraft that came down on land off Sheepbridge Lane, Chesterfield earlier this morning. The incident happened just after 9am today.
“Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service are also at the scene. Roads in the immediate area are closed and will remain shut for some time while the investigation into the circumstances continues.”
