A traveler with a bloodied head has been arrested after he refused to deboard an American Airlines flight.
The man and his wife were both arrested at Florida Airport on Tuesday for refusing to deboard when the crew became concerned about the mans bloody head.
They were escorted from the Las Vegas-bound flight and put in handcuffs at Miami International Airport, the reasoning being a potential bio-hazard caused by the man’s wounded head.
Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, boarded the plane with a bloody head and a bandage that appeared to be falling off, according to a live video streamed by his wife on TikTok.
He was asked by the crew to clean the bloody area of his head. It would appear that the blood is there thanks to a hair transplant surgery. It was reported by Local10 that when asked to clean his head and replace the bandages, he told staff that he did not have any.
They refused to comply
Concern for his welfare and the contamination of the plane led to them being asked to leave. He and his 32-year-old wife, Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, refused to comply, police said.
Loyola reportedly said that if she and her husband couldn’t fly, “no else can either,” according to the report.
The American Airlines crew called police, who boarded the plane and also asked the couple to leave.
After they were removed, all the other passengers also had to depart and by this stage Loyola was in tears and had been screaming in Spanish that her husband had surgery and it was only dried blood.
The husband and wife were first brought to the hospital to be evaluated for the bleeding before they were transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, authorities said.
