Hamlin Chases History at Thunder Valley’s Colosseum

By | April 19, 2025

Denny Hamlin is poised to make history at Bristol Motor Speedway—dubbed “The Last Great Colosseum”—as he chases his third consecutive NASCAR Cup Series victory in the 2025 Food City 500. After recent wins at Martinsville and Darlington, Hamlin aims to join teammate Christopher Bell as the only drivers to achieve a three-race winning streak this season.

Bristol, with its high-banked concrete surface and 146,000-seat capacity, has been a stronghold for Hamlin, who has secured multiple victories there in the Next-Gen era, including wins in 2023 and 2024. His consistent top finishes at this track underscore his prowess and make him a formidable contender.

However, the competition is fierce. Kyle Larson, the 2024 Bristol night race winner, is also vying for a historic sweep of all three NASCAR races in a single weekend. Christopher Bell, with five top-five finishes this season, remains a significant threat.

Achieving three consecutive wins is a rare feat in modern NASCAR, accomplished by only a select few, including Brad Keselowski and Kyle Larson. For Hamlin, who has yet to clinch a Cup Series title, this potential milestone would further solidify his legacy as one of the sport’s greats.

As the engines roar to life at Thunder Valley, all eyes will be on Hamlin to see if he can etch his name deeper into NASCAR history.
