Breaking: Max Verstappen Issues Ultimatum to Red Bull Amid Form Dip and Uncertainty

Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen has issued a stark warning to Red Bull Racing: deliver a consistently competitive car in 2025, or risk losing him. Despite being under contract until 2028, Verstappen’s commitment hinges on the team’s performance and stability.

Red Bull’s decline in form during the 2024 season, which saw McLaren clinch the Constructors’ Championship, has raised concerns. Verstappen acknowledged the challenges, stating, “If we continue like this, I won’t be champion next year” . The team’s RB20 car struggled with consistency, prompting Verstappen to emphasize the need for significant improvements in the upcoming RB21 model.

Internal turmoil has further complicated matters. The departure of key personnel, including designer Adrian Newey and sporting director Jonathan Wheatley, coupled with controversies surrounding team principal Christian Horner, have unsettled the team. Verstappen’s close relationship with advisor Helmut Marko has also come into focus. He previously stated that Marko’s presence is vital to his own, warning that if Marko were to leave, he might follow suit .

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko echoed Verstappen’s sentiments, emphasizing the necessity of providing a car capable of winning. “If we don’t succeed, there is no reason for Max to stay with us,” Marko admitted .

As rival teams like Mercedes and Aston Martin express interest in Verstappen, Red Bull faces mounting pressure to address both performance issues and internal conflicts. The 2025 season will be pivotal in determining whether the team can retain its star driver and return to championship-winning form.
