Ferrari’s Formula 1 team principal, Fred Vasseur, is reportedly under increasing pressure following the team’s recent decline in performance. According to reports, senior management, including CEO John Elkann, has summoned Vasseur to discuss the team’s downturn, particularly after the introduction of an upgrade package that failed to deliver the expected improvements.

The team’s early-season promise has waned, with Ferrari slipping behind rivals McLaren and Mercedes in competitiveness. This decline has raised concerns about the team’s direction and Vasseur’s leadership. Notably, Peter Sauber, founder of the team now branded as Alfa Romeo, cautioned Vasseur about the high expectations and limited patience historically associated with Ferrari’s management.

Despite the challenges, Vasseur remains committed to steering the team back to form. He has emphasized the need for consistency and has been proactive in addressing internal issues, including fostering a culture of accountability. Charles Leclerc, one of Ferrari’s lead drivers, has acknowledged the positive changes under Vasseur’s leadership, noting improved responsibility and trust within the team.

As Ferrari prepares to welcome Lewis Hamilton in the upcoming season, the team’s management is keen on ensuring a stable and competitive environment. Vasseur’s ability to navigate the current challenges and align the team’s performance with its storied legacy will be crucial in determining his tenure’s longevity.
