Tyson Fury has decided to take a stand against knife crime after his cousin, Rico Burton, was stabbed to death.

The incident reportedly took place at 3am on Sunday morning when Burton, 31, was attacked outside a bar in Altrincham, Greater Manchester.

A 17-year-old man also suffered serious injuries and is currently in hospital, while a 21-year-old man has been arrested amid a police investigation.

Fury took to Instagram to express his grief, as he posted a photo that says, ‘stop knife crime’ alongside a caption in which he pleas with the UK government to create harsher laws related to knife crime.

“My cousin was murdered last night,” Fury said, “stabbed in the neck, this is becoming ridiculous idiots carry knives.

“This needs to stop Asap, UK government needs to bring higher sentencing for knife crime, its a pandemic & you don’t know how bad it is until its 1 of your own!

“Life is very precious & it can be taken away very quick enjoy every moment RIP RICO BURTON

This all comes as Fury had been enveloped in the fall out from the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, when the Ukrainian emerged victorious by split decision.

Usyk now holds three of the four major recognised titles in the heavyweight division with Fury holding the fourth.

A fight between the pair would be for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world and it would see the first undisputed heavyweight champion crowned in the four belt era.

Since Usyk’s victory, both men have publicly expressed interest in fight each other, although Fury did warn that it would not be cheap to lure him out of retirement.
