HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Six people were injured Saturday afternoon when an American Airlines plane made a “hard landing” at Kahului’s airport, authorities said.
The Maui Police Department said first responders were called to the scene about 2:21 p.m.
American Airlines confirmed one passenger and five flight attendants were injured. They were transported to a hospital in stable condition and subsequently released.
There were 167 customers and seven crew on the flight, which originated in Los Angeles.
American Airlines said Flight 271 was able to taxi to the gate under its own power. The plane was taken out of service for inspection.
